(As with most proper nouns in board game design, all these names are placeholders and subject to change if/when something better [or someone optioning the design] comes along.)
Project Cross-Flux is a big game design that will take some time to actually fill out, so in the meanwhile, I'll release characters, classes, and other design elements with placeholder art to be a tease.
The pious, studious workhorses of most religious orders, the Neophyte is known for their long-term reliability and potential, not quite for their individual achievements. Whether as a result of their ethical codes, or the design of their institutions, they take on the problems of others as a fact of their daily lives. While this slows advancement of their own skills and interest, it also opens them up to a variety of varying influences. Just beginning to learn how to make manifest the will of those they follow, the Neophyte uses a variety of beginner's spells, prayers, and incantations to please their divine Lords first, and all others second.
Upon reaching Level 2, one of the classes a Neophyte can promote to is the Druid.
Many of those who begin on the path to spiritual enlightenment find the people, buildings, and organizations attempting the same to be obstructions in the process. These people tend to be more comfortable and productive in the church of nature instead, finding the path of the Druid more to their liking. They seek ways to commune with plants, animals, and essential forces of the natural world, to advance their efforts, and to protect them from others beyond their realms. Finding a new ally in their struggles, these environmental beings and divine wills tend to offer mutual aid to their devotees in scale to that which they receive.
Upon reaching Level 3, one of the classes a Druid can promote to is the Summoner.
If the forces of nature can be manipulated, then they can be bested, or so the philosophy of the Summoner claims as its foundation. If its will is not impervious, the wishes of the world itself can be bent to answer an individual's call. These followers are reaching to become masters of their own domains, with both the great risk and reward such an endeavor undoubtedly entails. The Summoner can manifest a number of allies, but may also use the more advanced portions of their training in an attempt to rein in the cosmic contributors to the universe itself and harness their power.
